    The Untitled Space invites artists to apply for a solo exhibition to take place at the gallery in Tribeca, New York in 2019. Throughout 2019, The Untitled Space gallery will be presenting a series of solo exhibitions focusing on artists with an exceptional body of work that has not been previously exhibited. This is a unique opportunity to gain invaluable exposure of your artwork, and work with internationally recognized gallery director, Indira Cesarine, who will be curating the exhibitions. Artists who submit may also be considered for future opportunities with The Untitled Space gallery such as international art fairs, group shows and gallery representation.

    Artists should have an established exhibition track record, and the focus of the proposal should be on new, unexhibited work. All proposals must include an artist bio, artist statement, images for each submitted artwork as well as documentation on any proposed new works, a project statement, and links to previous exhibitions. Please read all submission guidelines carefully. Keep in mind that artists submitting a majority of new, previously unexhibited work will be prioritized. All ages, genders and mediums will be considered.

    EXHIBITION DATES: 2019
    Artists will be notified of official dates of exhibition and opening reception upon confirmation. The Untitled Space will coordinate with the artist for the best timing of their exhibition, which will run for a minimum of 2 weeks. The exhibition will be curated by gallery director Indira Cesarine, who will work directly with the artist to select final artwork for exhibition. The gallery will host an opening reception for the artist, as well as post the exhibition on Artsy as well as other sites to promote the artwork. Expenses including the installation, opening reception, exhibition marketing and staffing as well as of course the gallery venue will be provided by The Untitled Space. All details will be finalized directly with the artist to insure the best possible experience for the gallery and artist to have a successful exhibition.

    ABOUT THE UNTITLED SPACE

    The Untitled Space is an art gallery located in Tribeca, New York in a landmark building on Lispenard Street. Founded in 2014 by Indira Cesarine, the gallery features an ongoing curation of exhibits of emerging and established contemporary artists exploring conceptual framework and boundary pushing ideology through mediums of painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, video and performance art. The gallery is committing to exploring new ideas vis-à-vis traditional and new mediums and highlights a program of women in art as well as special events aligned with our creative vision.

    ABOUT CURATOR INDIRA CESARINE

    Indira Cesarine’s curatorial for The Untitled Space includes solo shows for artists including FAHREN FEINGOLD and REBECCA LEVEILLE, as well as exhibitions "(HOTEL) XX" at SPRING/BREAK Art Show 2018; ”SECRET GARDEN” presenting the female gaze on erotica; “SHE INSPIRES,” a group show of 60 artists exhibiting works honoring inspirational women; internationally-celebrated group shows “UPRISE/ANGRY WOMEN,” and “ONE YEAR OF RESISTANCE” responding to the political climate in America since the election of Trump, as well as numerous other critically-acclaimed exhibitions. She is additionally the founder and editor-in-chief of globally distributed art and culture publication “The Untitled Magazine.”

  • SUBMITTED WORKS

    By submitting this form you confirm all works are original, made by you, and do not infringe on the copyright of another artist or entity.
    • Artists should have a strong exhibition track record.
    • We do not accept walk ins or any unsolicited artwork shipped by mail.
    • Works can be figurative or abstract and of any medium.
    • Proposals that contain mostly new unexhibited work will be prioritized.
    • Artists must submit a minimum of 10 digital images of artwork (jpeg format) for consideration. This may also include renderings of proposed works to be created for the exhibition, although the majority of works should be existing, completed works.
    • Up to 3 videos may be submitted.
    • Artwork image sizes must be minimum 1000 pixels - maximum 2000 pixels JPEGS (only). Maximum file size: 1MB
    • Each jpeg must be titled with “Artist Name–Title of Artwork–Year”
    • Each submission of work or series of works must include a description of the art and mediums used, as well as a statement on the subject of inspiration for the art.
    • All submissions must include your artist biography, artist statement, a description of the art submitted as well as basic info for each work including title, year created, medium, dimensions, suggested price, and edition size + number if relevant.
    • Any oversized (larger than 72"), overweight (more than 30lbs) or works requiring special installation must be installed by the artist.
    • All transportation of works is responsibility of artist, and works requiring any special stands or pedestals may require the artist to provide.
    • If your work requires a pedestal or any special stands, you must note that in the description of the artwork.
    • All submissions should include a photo of the artist that can be used for promotion of the exhibit if selected. A portrait with artwork is preferred.
    • Works submitted must be available for exhibition and for sale. Artists receive 50% commission on sales. Consignment terms run though the exhibit of the show at the gallery as well as for 90 days after gallery exhibit closing in order to follow up with collectors and for the online exhibition of works on Artsy , unless agreed otherwise.

  • SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

    Artwork submitted to The Untitled Space for the exhibition must be unique works by the artist, preferably created within the last 5 years, and available for sale. Artists must submit 10 works of art for consideration which may include proposed works to be completed specifically for the exhibit. The gallery will notify you if your work is of interest, and if it is accepted for exhibition. The terms of art consignment and exhibition dates will be agreed by both parties before moving forward with deliveries. Accepted entries must deliver the artwork to The Untitled Space gallery once confirmed, and are responsible for collecting any works that are unsold. All costs for transportation of the artwork(s) is the responsibility of the artist. If your work(s) are selected, The Untitled Space reserves the exclusive right to sell the artwork during the course of the exhibition, and for an additional 90 (ninety) days after the gallery exhibition closes via the online exhibition on Artsy. All artwork must be for sale. Any work marked POR (Price on Request) or NFS (Not For Sale) will not be eligible for entry into the exhibition. All artwork must be signed or include a certificate of authenticity, framed (if relevant) and ready to hang, labeled on the back with your name and title of the artwork, and year created. Any oversized (larger than 72"), overweight (more than 30lbs) or works requiring special installation must be installed by the artist unless otherwise agreed by the gallery. All entries must be registered/received by midnight, November 4, 2018. All application fees are non‐refundable.

    - I agree to the conditions of the entry and exhibition as outlined in the application.

    - I agree to deliver and collect my artwork to The Untitled Space within the timeframe noted by the gallery regarding the exhibit. I also agree to cover any fees for transportation should it be accepted for the exhibit. I understand that this artwork must be signed (or include a signed certificate of authenticty), framed (if relevant), ready to install with appropriate instructions and hardware, and include a return shipping labels (if shipped).

    - I agree to allow The Untitled Space the exclusive right to handle all sales of the artwork during the course of the exhibit and for an additional 90 (ninety) days after the exhibition closes in order to follow up with collectors.

    - I agree to allow The Untitled Space to publish images of my artwork featured in the exhibition on their website, on Artsy.net and other websites in order to promote the exhibition and sales, as well as in media / press outlets in relation to the exhibition.

    - I agree to pay the total application entry fee below.

Applications that are incomplete including payment of the application fee will not be reviewed or considered for the exhibition. This fee helps cover costs that directly affect our ability to create a space that includes emerging, underrepresented and/or marginalized artists and not just a commercially focused gallery.
