THE UNTITLED MAGAZINE LAUNCHES INAUGURAL ART PRINT EDITION WITH DEBUT ISSUE “THE ART OF RESISTANCE” IN COLLABORATION WITH THE UNTITLED SPACE

Following in the footsteps of its bold, culture-defining collector’s editions, The Untitled Magazine has officially launched a brand-new chapter in print with the debut of its ART EDITION—a biannual publication dedicated exclusively to contemporary art. The inaugural edition, “THE ART OF RESISTANCE,” arrives this May 2025 and is both a celebration and a call to action—marking the 10th anniversary of The Untitled Space gallery and its groundbreaking exhibition UPRISE 2025: The Art of Resistance.

Curated in tandem with the gallery’s landmark exhibition presented in collaboration with nonprofit initiative Art4Equality, the issue brings together an extraordinary group of contemporary artists whose practices center on themes of identity, empowerment, and social justice.

With its dynamic energy and unflinching focus, the issue expands The Untitled Magazine’s commitment to fearless storytelling with insight into the artwork and practice of nearly 100 contemporary artists, along with exclusive interviews and photo shoots. In an era defined by upheaval, protest, and transformation, “THE ART OF RESISTANCE,” is a timely publication dedicated to the artists on the front lines of cultural change.

“THE ART OF RESISTANCE” is an exploration of how artists are using their voices and platforms to respond to the social and political challenges of our time. 

Feminist icon Rose McGowan opens up from Mexico about her latest chapter as a visual artist in conversation with UNTITLED’s founder Indira Cesarine. Artist and actress Jemima Kirke reflects on reproductive rights and the politics of female creativity while sharing insight into her artistic practice. Anna Delvey discusses her evolving narrative post-house arrest and how her artwork engages themes of freedom and existential resistance.

The issue also features conversations with a host of other provocative creators: Alison Jackson, Ashley Chew, Helena Calmfors, Iris Brosch, Linda Friedman Schmidt, Lisa Levy, Michael Wolf, Orly Cogan, Sunday Olaniyi, Suzanna Scott, Trina Merry, Victoria Selbach, and more. Artists featured span generations and disciplines, from well-known disruptors to emerging innovators. The publication offers two front covers for the special launch edition, one featuring an exclusive portrait of the talented UPRISE 2025 artist Jemima Kirke, who was interviewed and photographed by Indira Cesarine for the issue. Artist Alanna Vanacore’s bold painting, “FU,” is also featured on a cover of THE ART OF RESISTANCE issue, and was unveiled at THE SUPERFAIR at the Brooklyn Navy Yard in late April, receiving an enthusiastic response from collectors and creatives alike.
